She is the head of the research team responsible for mapping her mother’s brain. The real heart of Jung_E is Jung-Yi’s daughter Yun Seo-hyun ( Kang Soo-yeon). This is what the trailer for Jung_E makes you believe is the heart of this story. And when Jung-yi dies in battle, the allied forces use technology to map her brain and create a super soldier to stop this war once and for all. Our story takes place on Earth where the remaining survivors build weaponry and technology to defeat the independent colonies. Trouble comes when three of the colonies declare independence and the allied forces try to squash that. With sea levels rising, humans have sought refuge in space by creating colonies. She is an elite soldier in the middle of a war. If you haven’t watched the trailer, Jung_E (which comes from the brilliant mind behind Train to Busan, Yeon Sang-ho) tells the story of Yun Jung-yi ( Kim Hyun-joo). That is at the heart of good sci-fi and the core reason why I really enjoyed Netflix’s Jung_E. But no, we don’t want to miss out on the way beings connect, fight, and love each other. They don’t understand that yes, we want robots, space, and advances in technology that scare the shit out of us. Most of the time, Hollywood in particular, relies too heavily on special effects or expansive world-building.

Now, making a good sci-fi movie in 2023 is a hard thing. Place the thoughts, feelings, or sensations on the leaves. You can try this with the train imagery, or imagine yourself sitting on the side of a stream that has leaves floating by. There is flexibility in being able to observe our thoughts vs being in them. With distance to, we can choose what we want to do with these thoughts, such as buy into them or let them simply be. This can help to better see that fact that thoughts come and go, they will always come, but they will also go, and we can let them take their natural path instead of feeling stuck in trying to fix something we can stop. So instead of being in the thoughts, you are observing your thoughts. This is a skill that will give you some distance from your thoughts and feelings. Simply just notice without judgement thoughts, feelings, and sensations. As this train goes by in your mind, simply notice any thoughts, feelings, or body sensations you are having and place them on the train cars and watch them go by and out of site.

Imagine looking at the train from and overpass or from the side of the road as it goes by. We are not going to be able to stop our thoughts or feelings. When we get lost in our thoughts it is like we are on the train in one of the cars. Much like a train, thought and feelings keep going. I want you to imagine your thoughts and feelings as a train. This skill can be used when you are in finding yourself often inside your head and stuck on your thoughts or feelings.
